UNIT 1-m2

Threats and risks likely to arise from using IT based communication within a large company.

  • uploading/using digital content; when uploading a picture or video anyone can go onto your profile and use it as other things.
  • respect towards others/colleagues; people can't respect others on the IT based communication
  • company/school data protection; this is a risk because some people have technical computers to hack and find out school or company data collections.
  • ownership/copyright of images/videos/music; people can use your music or images as there's to make out they had down your work.
  • plagiarism; someone can click onto your profile and copy your work or in other words cheat.
  • privacy of information; anyone can view your privacy details and find out where you live, where you go most of the time etc.
  • cyber bullying; IT based communication causes cyber bullying by posting embarrassing picture or writing nasty stuff onto other peoples work/profile.
  • spam; if your password or username is easy anyone can go onto your profile and spam you at anytime.
  • phishing; if you sign up for any websites people can send you links to click and update your credit card which they can then enter your bank and take money out. This is called identity theft.
All of these threats and risks that are likely to arise from using IT based communication within a large company are linked together.

UNIT 1-p6

Advantages and disadvantages of moving to an IT-based communication systems.

Advantages of a Paperless Office

1.  Less Space
If you are to take out all your paper files and burn them outside, you’ll be amazed to see just how much free space your office don’t need.

2.  Savings
Going paperless means less bulky filing cabinets and lesser costs in paying for storage spaces ( rent, lease, etc. )

Disadvantages of a Paperless Office

1.  Human Error
Not everyone is tech savvy in making that transition to a paperless environment, specially when one is used to doing data entry in paper.  There is also a high chance of entering the wrong data.

2.  Automation
To achieve a 100% paperless office, one must have all systems automated flawlessly and this can cost time and money.

3.  Bugs and Breakdowns
To go paperless means keeping all records electronically, which comes with an IT department’s biggest nightmare concerning software and hardware issues that can disrupt work.

1.  Cost effectiveness
Going paperless significantly reduces costs spent on buying not only paper, but also costly printer consumables such as toner and inks. You also lessen the overall usage of your printers, reducing maintenance and repair costs and increasing the lifetime of your printer.
2.  Neater and greener
One of the most obvious advantages of going paperless is that it makes everything much neater. Remember those messy IN and OUT trays you couldn’t make heads or tails of? All gone. And with less paper to throw away, there’s also less waste. Plus, it’s much more environmentally friendly – using less paper, disposable printer consumables, and electricity means you’re doing your part to have a green office.
3.  Save space
Storing paper requires file cabinets, and file cabinets take up space. In one example, a company converted the massive documentation they were required to archive to digital copies, and eliminated an entire room of file cabinets. They were then able to use that valuable square footage as office space for a new salesperson.
Using paper can save trees and nature, as people moan about deforestation. But also using IT based communication can cause cyber bullying and much more.

Identify why you think a blogsite is an effective means of communication within a large organisation. Use some of the features of Blogspot to illustrate your report.

I think blogger is effective because its easy to use, its free, and you can get followers. For example i had the blogger setup within 30 minutes. Blogger is a free weblog its already designed and you can access blogger from anywhere. You can also write your opinion and comments on other peoples work including yourself. You can update your blogger on your phone, pc or any other internet surfers. You can receive your posts or other peoples posts through your phone as well. Blogger is also easy to publish, and its easy to edit if you have made a mistake or wanted to add some more detail. You can change your font, size, colour and can spell check your words if you cant spell technical words.
